Opinions of Ahl ul-Jarh wat Ta’deel:

Those who praised him:

1-    Imaam Shu’bah bin al-Hajjaaj (D. 160) has narrated from him and he does not narrate except from Thiqah narrators according to him.
[See, Al-Taareekh al-Kabeer lil Bukhaari (3046) & Al-Jarh wat Ta’deel by Ibn Abi Haatim (9/176)]

Imaam Dhahabi said: “The teachers of Shu’bah are Jayyaad”
[Meezaan: 4504]

When Al-Azdi declared Abu Sadaqah Tawbah bin Abdullah to be “La Yuhtajju Bihi” so Imaam Dhahabi said while refuting him: “I say, He is Thiqah, Shu’bah has narrated from him”
[Meezaan: 3611]

Haafidh Ibn Hajar said about this saying of Imaam Dhahabi that: “I read the writing of Dhahabi (in which he said) he is rather Thiqah for Shu’bah has narrated from him, and the narration of Shu’bah from him is his Tawtheeq”
[Tahdheeb at-Tahdheeb: 5161]

Haafidh Ibn Hajar also said: “The one from whose condition it is known that he does not narrate except from Thiqah then indeed when he narrates from a narrator, he is described with being Thiqah according to him such as: Maalik, Shu’bah, Al-Qattaan, Ibn Mahdi and a group of other people.”
[Lisaan al-Meezaan (1/210)]

2-    Imaam Abu al-Hasan al-Ijlee (D. 261) said:

يحيى بن عَمْرو بن سَلمَة كوفى ثِقَة وَأَبوهُ كوفى تَابِعِيّ ثِقَة
“Yahya bin Amr bin Salamah Koofi is Thiqah, and his father is also Koofi Taabi’ee Thiqah”
[Ath-Thiqaat (1990)]

3-    Imaam Ya’qoob bin Sufyaan al-Fasawi (D. 277) said:

لَا بَأْسَ بِهِ
“There is nothing wrong in him”
[Al-Ma’rifah wal Taareekh (3/104)]

Note: According to some Hanafis, the silence of Imaam Bukhaari in his Taareekh and Imaam Ibn Abi Haatim in Al-Jarh wat Ta’deel concerning a narrator is an indication of his being Thiqah according to them!

Those who criticized him:

None!

Conclusion:

Yahya bin Amr bin Salamah is Thiqah!
