Note: Most of the criticism of Muhadditheen is not on Amr bin Shu’ayb himself but their criticism is specifically on the chain of transmission of: Amr bin Shu’ayb narrating from his Father from his Grandfather.

And according to the Jumhoor this chain of transmission is also authentic, as Shaykh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah said: “The A’immah of Islaam and the Jumhoor Scholars take evidence from the hadeeth of Amr bin Shu’ayb narrated from his father from his grandfather when it is authentically transmitted from him…”
[Majmoo Fatawa: 8/18]

Similarly, Haafidh Ibn al-Mulaqqin said: “The majority is upon taking evidence from it (i.e. this Silsilah of chain) as said by Ibn as-Salaah…”
[Khulaasah Badar al-Muneer: 85]

Muhammad Yoosuf Binnori Deobandi affirms that: “The Majority of Muhadditheen have gone towards the strength of taking evidence from it (from this chain), and this is the correct and Mukhtaar opinion”
[Ma’aarif us-Sunan: 3/315]

Abdur Rasheed Nu’maani Deobandi writes: “The Majority of Muhadditheen consider these ahaadeeth of Amr bin Shu’ayb to be Hujjah and Saheeh”
[Ibn Maajah aur Ilm Hadeeth: P. 141]

Shaykh ul-Islaam al-Bulqaynee (rahimahullah) has written a separate book in proving the authentication of the chain of: Amr bin Shu’ayb narrating from his Father from his Grandfather, and he says: “The correct opinion is that towards which the Jumhoor Muhadditheen have gone which is to take evidence from it”
[Mahaasin al-Istalaah Sharh Muqaddimah Ibn as-Salaah: P. 481]

In short, the hadeeth of Amr bin Shu’ayb narrated from his father from his grandfather is Saheeh and Hujjah according to the Jumhoor. For more details on the authenticity of this chain, see the following link:
