Teachers: Abu al-Ahwas Hakeem bin Umayr bin al-Aswad, Dawood bin Abi Hind, Sa’eed bin al-Musayyab, Abdullah bin Deenaar, Abu Aamir Abdullah bin Ghaabir al-Alhaani, Ataa bin Abi Ribaah, Layth bin Abi Sulaym, Mujaahid bin Jabar, Abaan bin Abi Ayyaash and others.

1-    Imaam Ahmed bin Hanbal (D. 241) said: “He is Thiqah”

2-    Imaam Yahya bin Ma’een (D. 233) said: “He is Thiqah”

3-    Imaam Duhaym ad-Dimashqi (D. 245) said: “Thawr, Jareer and Artaat: all of them are Thiqah”

4-    Imaam Abu Haatim ar-Raazi (D. 275) said: “There is nothing wrong in him”

5-    Imaam Ibn Hibbaan (D. 354) mentioned him in his book of Thiqah narrators.

6-    Imaam Abu Abdullah al-Haakim al-Neesaaboori (D. 405) authenticated his hadeeth saying: “This hadeeth is Saheeh on the conditions of Shaykhayn”

7-    Imaam Shams ud-Deen adh-Dhahabi (D. 748) said: “He is Thiqah Imaam”

8-    Haafidh Ibn Hajar al-Asqalaani (D. 852) said: “He is Thiqah”
