al-Mizzi etc has said that Ibn Hibbaan mentioned him in his Ath-Thiqaat which
is incorrect. Ibn Hibbaan has only mentioned a person named Hilaal bin Abi
Hilaal and he did not mention his Kunya. Whereas, Ibn Hibbaan mentioning al-Qasmali
in al-Majroheen strengthens the opinion that he was not talking about this Abu
Zilaal al-Qasmali
