Imaam
Ibn Hazm al-Andalusi (D. 456) said in Kitaab as-Sayd:
“هو منكر الحديث ضعيف”
“He is Munkar ul-Hadeeth, Da’eef”
Imaam Dhahabi replied
Ibn Hazm’s Jarh saying:
“وهذا تضعيف مردود”
“And this weakening is rejected”
[Meezaan al-I’tidaal: 1/207]
A Muta’assib
Hanafi and a chief innovator of his time, Zaahid al-Kawthaari merely rejected
Asad bin Moosa based on the weakening of Imaam Ibn Hazm. Just because this
narrator was present in a narration which did not favor the Hanafi views,
Zaahid al-Kawthaari went ahead and declared him Da’eef based only on one testimony
and ignored all the other obvious authentications!!
Such is the
sincerity of these people towards the Deen of Allaah! We seek Allaah’s refuge
from this deceptive behavior!
Conclusion:
Asad bin Moosa is Thiqah.
