Those who praised him:

1-    Imaam Bukhaari narrated from him in his Saheeh
[H. 22, 185, 191, 192, 197, 199, 1405, 1447, 1481 etc….]

2-    Imaam Muslim narrated from him in his Saheeh
[H. 184, 235, 700, 714, 979, 1061, 1138, 1360, 1386, 1392 etc…..]

3-    Imaam Abu Haatim ar-Raazi said: “He is Thiqah”
[Al-Jarh wat Ta’deel: 6/269]

4-    Imaam Tirmidhi said: “He is Thiqah”
[Jaami at-Tirmidhi: H. 772]

5-    Imaam Muhammad bin Sa’d said: “He is Thiqah Katheer ul-Hadeeth”
[Tabaqaat al-Kubra: 5/405]

6-    Imaam Abu al-Hasan al-Ijlee said: “Taabi’ee Thiqah”
[Thiqaat: 2/187]

7-    Imaam Ibn Adee said: “These A’immah have narrated from him…. There is nothing wrong in the narration of these A’immah from him”
[Al-Kaamil: 6/241]

8-    Imaam Ibn Khuzaymah authenticated his hadeeth in his Saheeh
[H. 157, 2295, 2301 etc]

9-    Imaam Ibn Hibbaan authenticated his hadeeth in his Saheeh
[H. 182, 222, 1077, 1084, 1093, 1514 etc]

And he also mentioned him in his book of Thiqah narrators
[7/215]

At another place, he said: “He is from the Thiqaat of Ahl ul-Madeenah”

10-          Imaam al-Haakim authenticated his hadeeth saying: “These chains are all Saheeh upon the conditions of Bukhaari and Muslim and they did not narrate it”

11-          Imaam Abu Nu’aym al-Asbahaani narrated from him in Al-Mustakhraj
[H. 461, 556, 2195, 2196, 3202, 3202 etc]

12-          Haafidh Ibn Abdil Barr said: “He is Madani Thiqah”
[Al-Tamheed: 20/113]

13-          Haafidh al-Busayri declared him Thiqah by saying: “And the remaining narrators are Thiqaat upon the conditions of Bukhaari…”
[Misbaah uz-Zajaajah: 2/89]

14-          Imaam Dhahabi said: “He is Thiqah”
[Al-Kaashif: 2/91; Meezaan: 3/293]

15-          Haafidh Ibn Hajar al-Asqalaani said: “He is Thiqah”
[Taqreeb: 5139]

At another place, he said: “He is declared Thiqah by the Jumhoor”
[Fath ul-Baari: 1/432]

Those who criticized him:

1-    Imaam Yahya ibn Ma’een said: “He is not strong”
[Taareekh Ibn Ma’een, narrated by Ad-Daarimi: 456]

He also said: “He is Da’eef ul-Hadeeth”
[Su’aalaat Ibn Taaloot: P. 2]
