Opinions of Ahl ul-Jarh wat Ta’deel:

Those who criticized him:

1-    Imaam Ahmed bin Hanbal said: “…He would narrate ahaadeeth in which he would oppose (ankara)” and he (Ahmed) had lenient opinion about him.
[Al-Ilal of Ahmed narrated by Al-Marwazi: 1/122]

2-    Imaam Abu Zur’ah ar-Raazi said: “He is Da’eef ul-Hadeeth”
[Ad-Du’afa by Abu Zur’ah ar-Raazi: 2/460]

3-    Imaam Abu Haatim ar-Raazi said: “He is a Shaykh, he comes up with Manaakeer”
[Al-Jarh wat Ta’deel: 2/119]

Note: Narrating Manaakeer is way different than being “Munkar ul-Hadeeth”. The later denotes complete abandonment of the narrator’s hadeeth while the former does not denote continuity and it is not considered a reliable Jarh.

4-    Haafidh Ibn al-Jawzee mentioned him in ad-Du’afa wal Matrokeen
[1/45]

5-    Haafidh al-Haythami said: “He is weakened by the Majority”
[Majma az-Zawaaid: 1/24]

Those who praised him:

1-    Imaam Yahya ibn Ma’een said: “He is Muslim, Sadooq, he is not from the Ashaab al-Hadeeth”
[Su’aalaat Ibn al-Junayd: 1/332]

2-    Imaam Abu al-Hasan al-Ijlee said: “He is Sadooq”
[Ath-Thiqaat: 1/53]

3-    Imaam Abu Awaanah authenticated his hadeeth in his Saheeh
[H. 8371]

4-    Imaam Ibn Hibbaan mentioned him in Ath-Thiqaat
[8/59]

Ibn Hibbaan also authenticated his narrations in his Saheeh
[H. 2895, 5241]

5-    Imaam Dhahabi said: “His Hadeeth is Saalih”
[Meezaan al-I’tidaal: 1/51]

6-    Haafidh Ibn Hajar al-Asqalaani said: “He is Sadooq, makes (a few) mistakes”
[Taqreeb: 227]

Conclusion:

The hadeeth of Ibraaheem bin Uyaynah does not drop from the level of Hasan. Shaykh Albaani and Shaykh Zubayr Alee Za’ee also consider him Hasan ul-Hadeeth.
