Those who praised him:

1-    Imaam Ahmed bin Muhammad bin Hanbal said: “He is Thiqah”

2-    Imaam Yahya ibn Ma’een said: “There is nothing wrong in him”
[Su’aalaat Ibn al-Junayd: 10]

3-    Imaam Abu Zur’ah ar-Raazi said: “He is Thiqah; his hadeeth is Mustaqeem, and he is counted among the companions of Al-Awzaa’ee”
[Al-Jarh wat Ta’deel: Vol. 6 T. 49]

4-    Imaam Ahmed bin Abdullah al-Ijlee said: “There is nothing wrong in him”
[Ath-Thiqaat: P. 32]

5-    Imaam Abu Ahmed bin Adee al-Jarjaani said: “He is among those whose narrations are written down”
[Al-Kaamil: 7/12]

6-    Imaam Abu Bakr al-Bazzaar said: “Abdul Humayd: There is nothing wrong in him”
[Musnad al-Bazzaar: 14/233 H. 7801]

7-    Imaam Ibn Hibbaan mentioned him in ath-Thiqaat
[7/122 T. 9280]

Imaam Ibn Hibbaan also narrated from him in his Saheeh
[See, Saheeh Ibn Hibbaan: H. 1, 919, 1888, 3592, 7438]

At another place he said: “He sometimes errs”
[Same: 8/400 T. 14083]

8-    Imaam ad-Daaraqutni said: “He is Thiqah”
[Su’aalaat al-Haakim li’d-Daaraqutni: 1/241 T. 396]

9-    Imaam al-Haakim authenticated his hadeeth saying, “Its chain is Saheeh”
[Mustadrak al-Haakim: H. 836]

10-          Haafidh Abdul Haqq al-Ashbaylee said: “He is Thiqah”
[Al-Ahkaam al-Kubra: 3/340]

11-          Haafidh Ibn al-Qattaan al-Faasi said: “He is Thiqah”
[Bayaan al-Wahem wal Ayhaam: 3/364]

12-          Haafidh Ibn Hajar said: “He is Sadooq, sometimes he errs”
[Taqreeb: 3757]

Note: Such a narrator is Hasan ul-Hadeeth

Note: The authors of Tahreer Taqreeb at-Tahdheeb said: “He is Thiqah”

Haafidh Ibn Hajar also said: “He is declared Thiqah by the Majority (Akthar)”
[Hadi us-Saari: P. 457]

Those who criticized him:

1-    Imaam Bukhaari said: “He sometimes opposes in hadeeth”
[Al-Taareekh al-Kabeer by al-Bukhaari: 6/45; Ad-Du’afa al-Kabeer by al-Ukaylee: 3/41 T. 998; Al-Kaamil: 7/11-12]

Note: The Jarh “Laysa Biqawi” is not proven from Imaam Bukhaari.

2-    Imaam Abu Haatim ar-Raazi said, I asked (Imaam) Duhaym about him, whether you like him better or Waleed bin Mazeed? He said: “Ibn Abi al-Ishrayn is more beloved to me” I said: “Is Ibn Abi al-Ishrayn a man of Hadeeth? Thus he glanced at me i.e. (indicating) No!”

3-    Imaam Abu Haatim ar-Raazi said: “He was not a man of Hadeeth”
[Al-Jarh wat Ta’deel: Vol. 6 T. 49]

He is also reported to have said: “He is not strong”
[Tahdheeb al-Kamaal - This Jarh was not found with an authentic chain, wallahu a’lam]

4-    Imaam al-Ukaylee mentioned him in ad-Du’afa al-Kabeer
[3/41 T. 998]

5-    Imaam Nasaa’ee said: “He is not strong”
[Ad-Du’afa wal Matrokeen: 1/72]

6-    Haafidh Ibn al-Jawzee mentioned him ad-Du’afa wal Matrokeen
[2/85 T. 1824]

Conclusion:

Abdul Humayd bin Abi al-Ishrayn is Thiqah, Hasan ul-Hadeeth according to the Jumhoor.
