Tabaqah: 7 – From the Major Taba Taabi’een

Teachers: Sufyaan ath-Thawree, Mubaarak bin Fadaalah, Abdullah bin Umar al-Umri, Haytham bin Abi Ziyaad, Khulayd bin Da’laj and others.

Students: Maalik bin Abdullah bin Sayf, Muhammad bin Amr bin Naafi’, Sa’eed bin Uthmaan at-Tanookhi and others.

2-    Imaam Haakim said: “His ahadeeth are Mawdoo (Fabricated)”

3-    Imaam Yahya bin Muhammad bin Saa’id said: “Do not write the narrations of Ali bin al-Hasan as-Saami because of the Manakeer that he narrates”

4-    Abu Nasr Ibn Makoola said: “He narrates Munkar narrations from ath-Thawree”
[Ikmaal fi Rafa’ al-Artiyaab: 4/557]

5-    Imaam Ibn Adee said: “All the narrations of Ali bin al-Hasan are Baatil; they have no basis; and he is Severely weak”

6-    Imaam ad-Daaraqutni said: “He lies; he narrates Baatil narrations from Thiqah narrators (like) Maalik, ath-Thawree, and Ibn Abi Dhi’b”

7-    Imaam Abu Nu’aym al-Asbahaani said: “He narrates Munkar narrations, he is nothing”

8-    Imaam Dhahabi said: “He is counted among the Matrook narrators”
