Opinions of Ahl ul-Jarh
wat Ta’deel:
1- Imaam Ali ibn al-Madeeni said: “He
is Thiqah Ma’moon”

2- Imaam Abu Haatim ar-Raazi said:
“He is Thiqah”

3- Imaam Abdullah bin Ahmed said,
I asked my Father (Ahmed bin Hanbal): Whose hadeeth is more authentic, Eesa bin
Yoonus’ or his Father Yoonus’? He replied: “No, but Eesa’s hadeeth is more
authentic”

Imaam Ahmed once also called him Thiqah Thabat

4- Imaam Abu Zur’ah ar-Raazi said:
“He is a Haafidh”

5- Imaam Ibn Sa’d said: “He is
Thiqah Thabat”

6- Imaam al-Ijlee said: “He is
Thiqah…He is Thabat in Hadeeth”

7- Imaam Ibn Hibbaan mentioned him
in Ath-Thiqaat [9857]
8- Imaam Abdullah bin Ammaar al-Mawsali
said: “Eesa bin Yoonus, Israa’eel bin Yoonus, Yoosuf bin Yoonus are all
brother; the most firm of all of these is Eesa bin Yoonus then Yoosuf, and he
is Athbat than Israa’eel, then Israa’eel”

9- Imaam an-Nawawi said: “There is
a unanimous agreement on his greatness, his Tawtheeq, and his high status”
[Tahdheeb al-Asmaa wal Lughaat: 2/48]
He also said:
“He saw his
grandfather (Imaam Abu Ishaaq as-Sabi’ee – Thiqah Mudallis) but did not hear
anything from him”
