صالح بن حيان القرشى ، و يقال الفراسى ، الكوفى

Saalih bin Hayyaan al-Qurashi, and it is said al-Faraasi, al-Koofi

Tabaqah: 6 – From the contemporaries of Minor Taabi’een

Narrated by: Ibn Maajah in Al-Tafseer

Teachers: Abu Waa’il Shaqeeq bin Salamah, Abdullah bin Buraydah, Mas’ood bin Maalik etc

Students: Hammaad bin Usaamah, Qaadhi Abu Yoosuf, Abu Bakr bin Ayyaash and others.

Status: Da’eef with consensus

Opinions of Ahl ul-Jarh wat Ta’deel:

1-    Abbaas ad-Dauri, Uthmaan bin Sa’eed ad-Daarimi, and Ahmed bin Abi Yahya narrated from Imaam Yahya ibn Ma’een that he said: “Saalih bin Hayyaan is Weak”

2-    Imaam Bukhaari said: “Feehi Nadhar”
[Taareekh al-Kabeer: 2789]

3-    Imaam Abu Haatim ar-Raazi said: “He is not Strong”
[Al-Jarh wat Ta’deel: 1739]

4-    Imaam Nasaa’ee said: “He is not Thiqah”
[Ad-Du’afa wal Matrokeen: 295]

5-    Imaam al-Ukaylee mentioned him among the weak narrators.

6-    Imaam Ibn Hibbaan said: “He narrates things from Thiqah people which do not resemble the established hadeeth; I don’t think evidence is taken from him when he is alone”

7-    Imaam Ibn Adee said: “What he normally narrates is not preserved”
[Al-Kaamil: 2/89]

8-    Imaam ad-Daaraqutni said: “He is not strong”
[Ad-Du’afa wal Matrokeen: 289]

9-    Ibn al-Jawzee mentioned him in ad-Du’afa wal Matrokeen [P. 76]

10-          Imaam Dhahabi said: “He is unanimously declared weak”
[Deewaan ad-Du’afa: 1918]

11-          Haafidh Ibn Hajar said: “He is Da’eef”
[Taqreeb]
