Sufyaan bin Wakee’ bin al-Jarraah ar-Ruwaasi, Abu Muhammad al-Koofi (Brother of Mulayh bin Wakee’ and Ubayd bin Wakee’)

Opinions of Scholars:

1-   Imaam Bukhaari (D. 256) said concerning him: يتكلمون فيه لاشياء لقنوه [Taareekh as-Sagheer: 2/385]

2-   Imaam Abu Zur’ah ar-Raazi (D. 264) has accused him of lying [Al-Jarh wat Ta’deel: 4/99]

3-   Imaam Abu Haatim (D. 277) said: “He is Layyin” [Al-Jarh wat Ta’deel: 4/232]

4-   Imaam Nasaa’ee (D. 303) said: لَيْسَ بِشَيْء (He is nothing)” [Ad-Du’afa wal Matrokeen: 1/55]

5-   Imaam al-Khaleeli (D. 446) said: “He is declared Weak. He had scrolls in which he added ahadeeth which were not his…” [Al-Irshaad: 2/571]

6-   Imaam Ibn al-Jawzee (D. 597) mentioned him in ad-Du’afa wal Matrokeen [1452]

7-   Haafidh Ibn al-Qattaan (D. 628) said: “He is accused of lying” [Bayaan al-Wahem wal Ayhaam: 3/616]

8-   Imaam Dhahabi (D. 748) said: “He is Da’eef” [Al-Kaashif: 2005]

9-   Mughaltaai al-Hanafi (D. 762) declared him Weak also [Sharh Ibn Maajah: 1/281]

10-         Haafidh al-Haythami (D. 807) said: He is Severely weak” [Majma az-Zawaaid: 5/185]

11-         Haafidh al-Busayri (D. 840) said: “Sufyaan bin Wakee bin al-Jarraah is Weak” [Itthaaf al-Khayrah: 1/265]

12-         Haafidh Ibn Hajar (D. 852) said: “Sufyaan bin Wakee’ is Weak” [Fath ul-Baari: 1/399]

Ibn Hajar also said: “He was Truthful person except that he was tested through his scrolls (i.e. transcribed chains of Hadeeth). So he had entered upon them, what was not from his hadeeth. So they were not accepted and his hadeeth fell” [Taqreeb: 1/312]

13-         Haafidh Sakhaawi (D. 902) said: “He is Da’eef” [Al-Maqaasid al-Hasanah: 1/99]

14-         Haafidh Qastalaani (D. 923) said: “He is Da’eef” [Irshaad us-Saari: 10/132]

15-         Haafidh Al-Manawi (D. 1031) declared him Weak [Faydh ul-Qadeer: 5/484]
